    The call for the research award of EYFDM is now open!

    The European Young Family Doctors’ Movement wants to encourage New and Future General Practitioners/Family Physicians (GP/FM) to develop their research skills to improve health care in primary care. For this reason, the EYFDM presents an annual Junior Research Award with the aim of rewarding advanced projects of GP/FM trainees or junior GP/FM physicians with up to 6 years working experience after graduation.
    Applicants are asked to describe in detail a research project and finalists will be invited to present it during a EYFDM workshop at the WONCA World Conference in Lisbon.

    The researcher must be either a GP/FM trainee or a Junior GP/FM up to 6 years after graduation from vocational training. The research project must be an advanced research project and must have an impact on the field of primary care.

    Fons Sips Award 2025 – Call open

    In 2016, the Fons Sips Outstanding Achievement Award was created in honour of the contributions of one of EYFDM’s (at that time VdGM) founding fathers, Alphons Jacobus Ignatius. It was created in order to ensure that the heritage and history of the movement was not forgotten and in order to recognise great work and contribution of its members. The Fons Sips Outstanding Achievement Award remains first and foremost the chance for EYFDM members to appreciate their colleagues’ achievements and passion for Family Medicine, as well as their commitment to EYFDM community. It continues to be an award “by the members, for the members”.

    The Fons Sips winner is the EYFDM Rising Star Award nominee for WONCA Rising Star Award 2025.

    Nominations will be requested from the EYFDM members, therefore the nominator must be a “young doctor”, meaning family medicine/general practice trainee or within 5 years of completing the training.

    Nominee must be:

    1. A “young doctor”, meaning family medicine/general practice trainee or within 5 years of completing her/his training (the status must be still valid by the month of WONCA World Conference 2025)
    2. A registered member of a WONCA Europe National Member Organisation

      Documents

      To nominate a colleague, please provide:

      1. A letter of consent from the nominee saved as „Name of the nominee_Consent_ FSA2025″
      2. Evidence of the nominee’s “young doctor” status saved as „Name of the nominee_Status_ FSA2025″
      3. A completed template of a nomination letter outlining why the nominee should be considered for the award saved as „Name of the nominee_NL_FSA2025″

      All documents and potential questions should be sent to our Awards Officer. All documents should be sent by the 31th of March 2025.
      The winner of the Fons Sips Outstanding Achievement Award will be informed about the results by 7th of April 2025 and the award will be announced during the 9th EYFDM Forum in Grand Region (25-27 April 2025). The winner of the WONCA World Rising Star Award will be announced during WONCA World Conference in Lisbon (17- 21 September 2025).

      International Eastern Black Sea Family Medicine Congress 2025

      We are honored to invite not only the Family Medicine branch but also all branches that we manage diseases together with a multidisciplinary approach to our third International Eastern Black Sea Family Medicine Congress to be held on May 22-24, 2025 at Ordu, Türkiye.

      In our congress, with the participation of our speakers who have knowledge and experience in the national and international fields, we have prepared a strong program that will contribute to our practical applications with rich scientific content in the light of current literature information. A congress awaits us with trainings, oral presentations, hours where we find answers to our questions in hybrid sessions with interactive participation, and social programs where we will get away from fatigue and stress.

      We are looking forward to the participation of our guests from all our provinces, especially the Black Sea Region, and from various countries of the world in our congress.

      Therefore, we are announcing free online registration bursaries for 20 international participants who will present their papers in our congress.

    4. 2023 Exchange Awards

      2023 Exchange Awards

      An the winners of the Exchange Awards 2023 are:

      Dr. Mehmet Kocabas (from Turkey), won the best rural exchange and received the Carosino Award. He was hosted by Tommaso Barrini in Florence, Italy on October 2023.

      Dr. Margarida Morais Lopes (from Portugal), won the best urban exchange and received the Hippokrates Award. She was hosted by Per Kallestrup, who was responsible for the establishment of the Hippokrates Exchange Programme and continues to act in a senior supervisory capacity, and also won the Being Young Staying Young Award in 2015. Dr. Margarida Morais Lopes visited Aarhus in Denmark on Oct/23.

      EYFDM BYSY Award 2023 – Call for nominees

      The EYFDM Being Young Staying Young Award is a prestigious award that recognises an individual who over a prolonged period of time had made a valuable and key contribution to EYFDM (previously VdGM).

      The recipient should be a senior doctor who has contributed and influenced the development of EYFDM, and also epitomizes, espouses and evokes in others the youthful mindset which characterises and underpins the heart, soul and ethos of EYFDM.

      The nominator should be a young doctor.

      Important dates

      Nominations should be sent to the Awards&Fundraising officer by 10th of December 2023.
      The winner of the BYSY Award will be:

      • informed about the results by the 20th of December 2023.
      • announced during the 8th EYFDM Forum in Vienna (12-13th April 2024).
